High on Design

Hidesign bags meticulously hand crafted and designed for indian mindset is a must have in every girl’s wardrobe.Hidesign was lauched  in 1978 by  Indian born Dilip Kapur  who has a P.H.D on International Affairs  from University of Denver, School of International Studies  .He gave up his thriving career to pursue his passion for designing leather goods. He owns two hotels in Puducherry , le Dupliex and The Promenade . The first hotel was started   where Hidesign was established and where Dilip used to live in Pondicherry.  Other is an International standards hotel,  owned  by an old Pondicherry family .The property designed by Dilip and mainted by Sarvokar Park Plaza .The precocious ,talented  teenager who acted in Sanjay leela Bhansali’s black(Played Rani’s younger version) is none other than Dilip Kapur’s daughter ,Ayesha. She has made an entry in to the crowded accessory market with an eponymous brand .The brand has pop-arty junk/artificial jewellery ,the kind with which young girls connect with.
Hidesign  began with humble beginnings, they sold their products to small alternative shops in Australia and United States. The first department store to carry the complete line of Hidesign products was John Lewis in UK.The first  custom factory was established in Pondicherry.Ray meeker was responsible for designing a eco-friendly factory with ample greenery and lakes and a recycle unit. They continued to sell their products South Asian Markets and Russia. They were awarded Accessory of the year for their “boxy bags” and felicitated by Princess Diana. After almost a decade,Hidesign started its operations in India. It won a lot of laurels for its ad campaign depicting “ sweet life of success which mirrors the feeling of euphoria and achievement of an aspiring  indian consumer”.The imbroglio Hidesign  had to face was a court case filed against it for using another retail company’s name. They defended their case with the logic that they were hide-sign not hi –design, hence the logo of bull with horns –sign of hide!!!Another interesting tidbit about Dilip Kapur.

Go shopalicious on High Design!!!
